The Rev. Angel Gabriel Roque

Assistant Rector

Fr. Angel Gabriel RoqueThe Rev. Br. Angel Gabriel Roque joined Christ Church in June 2026 as our new Assistant Rector, bringing wide-ranging experience in youth and young adult ministry, pastoral care, recovery work, and service across the wider Episcopal Church. He is a life-professed brother of the Brotherhood of St. Gregory (BSG).

Fr. Angel was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2003 to study Culinary Arts and management. Over the years, he has worked in various capacities, including as a chef and in management. Fr. Angel’s diverse career includes secular roles working in homeless shelters, HIV prevention for youth, and as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist, specializing in trauma and opiate addiction. He served the church as a youth pastor and young adult ministries chaplain, and as diocesan head verger for the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida, 2017-2021. In January 2021, Fr. Angel answered the call to serve as the Diocesan Missioner for Youth and Young Adults and Camp Stoney programs director for the Diocese of the Rio Grande.

Fr. Angel recently graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, MDiv (class of 2026), and he was ordained to the diaconate in August 2025. He also contributed to the Church by serving on the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music (SCLM), the Advisory Council for Safe Church and Safe Communities. He is a current member of the Compass Rose Society. In his free time, Fr. Angel enjoys painting retablos (icons), cooking, and working as a Spanish-to-English translator and interpreter for the Church. He lives in Rockville, Maryland, with his defiant and fluffy dog, Koko.
