Special Occasions in Worship


There are three services on Christmas Eve, at 4:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The children of Christ Church present a Nativity pageant at the 4:00 p.m. service. The two later services are preceded by half an hour of carols. The 11:00 p.m. service typically includes a formal mass sung by the Adult Choir.

There is a Christmas morning service at 10:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. On the Sunday following Christmas, services are held at 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Ash Wednesday

There are three services on Ash Wednesday, at 7:00 a.m., noon, and 7:30 p.m.

Holy Week - Easter

There are small evening services held in the choir of the church from Monday through Wednesday of Holy Week. The Maundy Thursday service begins at 7:30 p.m., includes the ceremonial foot washing and ends with the ritual stripping of the altar. The liturgy for Good Friday, with communion from the reserved sacrament, is observed at noon and 7:30 p.m. There is also a special Stations of the Cross service for families with children at 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday.

The Great Vigil of Easter begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Saturday night before Easter Sunday. The service begins in darkness and ends in light with the acclamation “Christ is risen.” Music is led by the Adult Choir.

The three Easter Sunday services are at 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.
