AcolytesAssist the clergy in the orderly conduct of worship. The acolyte corps at Christ Church offers an opportunity for service to young persons from age 12 through high school seniors. The acolytes are scheduled to all of the Sunday services. They also serve at the special services of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter, and for many weddings and funerals.
Children's Church ChoirThe regular participation in leading liturgical worship is a fantastic experience of ritual and spirituality, which will last a lifetime. In no other area of church life can children of this age function and contribute on an equal basis with adults.
Christ Episcopal School Daily ChapelThe school enjoys a wonderfully strong and collaborative relationship with the Church, and our goal is to continue to have this flourish. Our Assistant Rector, the Rev. Cindy Simpson serves as the Chaplin of CES and each school day begins in the chapel.
Liturgical Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LLEM's)The Lay Liturgical Eucharistic Ministers at Christ Church are trained and licensed to assist the clergy at liturgical services. Their tasks include reading Old and New Testament lessons, assisting in the Gospel processions, leading the Creed and the Prayers of the People and chalice bearing. |
Altar Guild
These artesians prepare the altar and the church for all services and maintains al the silver, linens, brass, and altar frontals. The guild is responsible for keeping the supplies of Eucharistic wine and the candles used in our services. Members of the Guild serve in crews of two or three, for scheduled two-week periods. The Guild meets periodically.
Teen Choral ScholarsFor Teens. The purpose is to provide training to future Section Leaders. Choral Scholars follow a demanding schedule of 37 rehearsals and 54 services during the season, "shadowing" an adult Section Leader. They are able to sight-read music and to maintain an independent part. They sing with the Choir most Sundays, and once a month help the Choristers in singing SATB music at 9:00am
Jazz Vespers ServicesEach of these early evening performances includes our talented Rector on Sax are inspired performances of jazz standards accompanying the liturgy of evening prayer. The free-will offerings render partial financial support to our musicians and the remainder of the offerings go to Community Ministries of Rockville.
Pastoral Visiting LEM'sThese parishioners take and administer the Holy Communion to those parishioners who are ill or shut-in. They also provide our sick and Shut-in's with the days Bulletin and briefing on the Lesson of the Day, The Gospel teachings and the Rectors' Sermon.

Children's ChurchTo receive, nurture and treasure each child as a gift from God;to proclaim the Gospel to children, in ways that empower them to receive and respond to God's love; to give high priority to quality of planning for children and the preparation and support of those who minister to them; to include children in, fulfillment of the Baptismal Covenant, as members and full participants in the Eucharistic community and in the church's common life of prayer, witness and service.
ChoristersFor Young Adults, Ages 8-14. The purpose is to provide training in music for leadership in worship. It involves special efforts on the part of each Chorister, the dedication of many parents. The basics of music reading and vocal exercise, which are part of each rehearsal show themselves in the strength of leadership the Choristers are able to provide.
LectorsComing up from the congregation Parishioners read from the Old Testament, the Epistles, and the Apocrypha on Sundays and at many other liturgical occasions. New participants of all ages are always welcome and the training is easy.
Ushers and GreetersThey play and important role in representing our parish to visitors and newcomers, these men and women are perhaps the first person one meets when entering the CEC for Sunday Service. They provide all entrants with the Weekly Bulletin to follow the service. The ushers are also responsible for taking up the collection and for keeping records of attendance.
