Christ
Episcopal Church
We celebrate children's church during the 9:00 am service, consisting of appropriate psalms, lessons, and musical selections, starting at 9:00 AM. The children join their families in the church at the time of the Peace. The laity participates in leading worship. At the Sunday Eucharists, members of the congregation bring the bread and wine to the Altar at the offertory and serve as lectors for the reading of the lessons. Laity also serve as Acolytes, Lectors, Lay Liturgical Eucharistic Ministers, and Ushers. Frequently, a healing ministry takes place at a side Altar during the distribution of Communion. We highly value our Sunday services, but worship and prayer also take on other forms for us. We have well-attended Lenten and holiday services including, for example, a very popular children's Christmas pageant and a moving All Saints service. Recently we have reintroduced a mid-week Eucharist, at noon on Wednesdays. We celebrate and worship in services we take to nursing homes, and we occasionally involve children in these services. We regularly carry the Eucharist to the ill and disabled, sharing with them the joy of God's love. We have active Intercessors and a Pastoral Care group. We integrate worship with learning during Bible study and in the daily chapel services at Christ Episcopal School. Worship is a high priority of our church community.
