Today, May 11 - Pentecost, Mother's Day and Farewell Reception to Honor Denise Trogdon

Come bid farewell to our gifted seminarian as she concludes her two-year journey with us and heads toward a bright new horizon.  Join is in thanking Denise for her valuable service to Christ Church, congratulating her on her upcoming ordination (Saturday, May 24 at Washington National Cathedral), and wishing her God's speed as she leaves Christ Church to embark on the next phase of her career and spiritual journey.  Denise's Lay Seminarian Committee hosts a reception in her honor.  Donations of "finger foods" would be greatly appreciated.  Contact Jack Gregory at (301) 977-6727 for more information.

BOOKTALK will meet at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 12th in the Living Room of the Parish House.  We will discuss Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen.  In this novel, an orphan discovers love when he joins a circus during the Great Depression.


MEMORIES WANTED!
A photo album /scrap book was started for our 50th anniversary celebration but there are many gaps in time!  Please help us to document the history of The Bargain Box!  Tell us what you remember about the store locations, volunteers, etc.  No fact too small!  Jot down your thoughts and remembrances and send them to the shop at  398 Hungerford Dr of Bargainbox@cecrockville.org . and open 10-4:30, Mon. - Sat. All profits fund outreach projects in the community. 

Jazz Vespers Sunday, May 18

Join us for another service of evening prayer accompanied by the sounds of jazz on Sunday evening, May 18, at 5:00 pm.  Fr. McDuffie will again join the Jim Levy trio in offering hymns and jazz standards to enhance psalms, scripture and prayers.  A free will offering will be gratefully received that night to benefit our Youth Group and the mission workcamp in West Virginia this Summer.  Come and discovery why the caged bird sings!  ' Please join us after Vespers downstairs for a small reception provided by our youth!

THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE  has designated the third  Sunday of each month as Rockville Help Sunday.  You are invited to bring non-perishable food items (cans, dried goods) to support this hunger program (formerly Rockville FISH).

LOAVES AND FISHES:  Join other members of our parish every 3rd Sunday, traveling from Christ Church at 10:15 am, to prepare and serve meals to those in need.  Adults & youth welcome.  Contact Bill Thompson at 301-294-9105 of bthompson@loc.gov or Ron Tipton at 301-251-0940 or tipteaux@comcast.net.


BENEFIT PERFORMANCE OF RIGOLETTO at Christ Church, Sunday June1 at 6:30 pm, presented by the Metropolitan Repertory Opera Company, with 10 guest performers from the Christ Church Choir.  Suggested donation is $20 at the door.  All proceeds to benefit the Christ Church Choir musical pilgrimage to England this coming August.


THE EVANGELISM CONFERENCE, sponsored by the Diocese of Washington, will take place on Saturday, June 7, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at the National 4-H Conference Center, 7100 Connecticut Avenue, in Chevy Chase.  Internationally know evangelist and author Brian McLaren will speak, and workshops will be offered in personal evangelism and parish media communications.  The cost of the conference is $30.  You can register online at www.edow.org or let Fr. McDuffie know you would like to attend.
