Christ
Episcopal Church Children's Christian Education CHRISTIAN EDUCATION is the process by which we become equipped, in the name of Jesus Christ, for ministry in God's world. Since the formal Christian education of Christ Church can only supplement the learning that takes place at home, we try to offer an opportunity for children of all ages to experience faith as part of a community. We offer wonderful Sunday school classes for children of all ages from preschool through high school. Each class is aimed at helping children experience faith at their level of understanding. Faith is something that is, "caught not taught." We here at Christ Church are here to assist you and your children as they embark on their own faith journey, or experiences with God, as as they "catch faith." At Christ Church we believe you the parents, guardians, grandparents, or caregivers are the most important Christian educators of your children because you:
Sunday School is from 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM, meeting September through May. Sunday School begins with preschool classes and continues through high school. We follow the same structure as weekday school, moving up a class level each fall. You may register your child at any point in time by completing a registration form available online, in your child's classroom or by calling the Church Office. Preschool & Kindergarten classes use storytelling and crafts as a way of teaching and learning about essential figures in the Bible. Primary classes (grades 1 - 3) focus on the prophets of the Bible, saints, and people in the church community. Intermediate classes (grades 4 - 6) focus on the Bible, the Prayer Book, the sacraments and Church history. Rite-13 (ages 13 & above) is a two-year spiritual journey that youth take as a passage away from their families and into their own lives as they discover and experience God and concludes with confirmation at the National Cathedral. Registration forms for Rite - 13 are available online or by calling the Church office. Sunday Morning at the Movies (grades 7-12) is a time for teens to gather together and watch contemporary movies followed by meaningful discussions. Nursery care is available from 8:45 AM - 12:15 AM every Sunday for infants, toddlers, and children up to age 5. We have vibrating pagers which parents may take to the worship service with them. The Nursery is located across the oratory from the Church. Nursery Registration Form
