THE BARGAIN BOX is a thrift and consignment shop operated by Christ Church in downtown Rockville. It provides clothing and household items, both donated and consigned, to the community at very affordable prices. It is located a few blocks from the Church, at 398 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, next door to the Rockville Fire Station and Nail Tech. Bargain Box proceeds are designated to support our outreach activities.

The Bargain Box congratulates CES and CMR on their 40^th anniversaries, but we’ve got them by 10 years!

The Bargain Box opened its doors in 1957 and day by day our volunteers have carried out its mission. Can you believe we celebrate our 50^th anniversary this year? That’s 18,250 days, minus 600 months of Sundays, and assorted holidays and snow days. What an amazing amount of volunteer time, talent, and treasure, blood, sweat and tears, laughter and joy in each of those days. We are compiling a scrapbook photo album to commemorate its history and to celebrate our Golden anniversary. We’d love to have your photos, newspaper clippings, or any stories and information you have to share. We will make copies and return your originals to you safely. We’d also like to get in touch with former volunteers who may have moved out of the area. A service and reception in honor of all Bargain Box volunteers will be held at Christ Church late in the fall. For more on the history, mission and activities of the Bargain Box, click here.

Writer of notices for church bulletins and The Angelus
PR person to spread the word to the community
Consignment Worker to write consignment tickets, Fridays, 10 - noon.
Consignment Worker to calculate consignment checks, 1x month
Supply Clerk to keep store stocked with supplies from “Staples”, as needed
Donor of “paper or plastic”? We use both, especially bags with handles. Plus we use the “gazette” sized newspapers to wrap fragile items.
